The Insurance Meets Tech (IMT) conference has been widely praised for its pivotal role in accelerating digital adoption and fostering innovation within Nigeria’s insurance industry.
Key industry leaders, including the Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, and the President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, delivered the commendation during the opening ceremony of the inaugural CIIN Insurance Awareness Week, held in Lagos.
Themed “Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future,” the event brought together stakeholders from across the insurance and technology sectors—including policymakers, tech professionals, and thought leaders—to explore the future of insurance in an increasingly digital Nigeria.
In his remarks, Mr. Omosehin emphasized the necessity of embracing technology to enhance the relevance and reach of the industry.
“Digital innovation is no longer optional—it is essential to the growth and sustainability of insurance in Nigeria,” he stated. “Platforms like Insurance Meets Tech are not just talk shops; they are catalysts for the digital transformation of our industry. I commend the convener for this bold and timely initiative and urge all stakeholders to leverage technology to build trust and deepen insurance penetration across all levels of society.”
Echoing this sentiment, CIIN President Mrs. Ilori highlighted the strategic value of the IMT platform in modernizing insurance delivery.
“Insurance Meets Tech is revolutionizing the way we operate,” she said. “It is breaking down traditional barriers and fostering innovation, particularly among younger, tech-savvy Nigerians. This initiative is giving the insurance sector a competitive edge, enhancing its relevance and contributing to long-term economic development. Our profession’s future depends on how effectively we integrate digital tools across every aspect of our operations.”
Founder and Convener of Insurance Meets Tech, Mr. Odion Aleobua, expressed gratitude for the recognition and support from the industry’s leadership.
“We are honored by the endorsement from Mr. Omosehin and Mrs. Ilori. Their support signifies a unified commitment to transforming the industry through innovation,” Aleobua said. “This validation reinforces our belief that collaboration among regulators, practitioners, and technologists can build a truly inclusive and digitally driven insurance ecosystem that serves every Nigerian.”
The IMT conference continues to position itself as a leading platform for dialogue, disruption, and digital advancement in Nigeria’s evolving insurance landscape.
