Great Nigeria Insurance Plc (GNI), a pioneer in Nigeria’s insurance industry with over six decades of service, hosted its Annual Retirees Experience Forum on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the ASSBIFI Event Centre, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos.
The forum, which brought together retirees from both government and private sectors, served as a platform for interaction, feedback, and celebration of GNI’s annuitants.
Engaging Retirees with Purpose
In her welcome address, GNI’s Managing Director, Mrs. Roselyn Ulaeto, emphasized the importance of the forum in fostering a stronger connection between the company and its clients.
“The Retiree’s Forum is one of the ways we plan to keep in touch with you more personally; see you, hear you, and respond to you,” Mrs. Ulaeto said. She described the event as a yearly review to gather feedback and improve services, asking attendees: “Where exactly is the shoe pinching? What are your areas of concern? How can we serve you better?”
Health and Well-Being Take Center Stage
GNI underscored its commitment to retirees’ well-being by providing free medical checkups at the venue, with a team of healthcare professionals on standby. Mrs. Ulaeto stated that empathy and passion for customers are core values of GNI, adding, “We are not just interested in the annuity business only, we are also concerned about you, your health, your aspirations, and your general well-being.”
Celebration and New Entrants
The event featured lively activities, including a dance competition and gift presentations to winners, ensuring a festive atmosphere. Over 50 new annuitants were introduced to the GNI community, which Tony Moore, the event host, described as a testament to the company’s excellence in the annuity business.

The Head of Inspectorate of the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Mrs. Eze Olaseni, attended the event and praised GNI for its thoughtful engagement with pensioners. She encouraged annuitants to contribute ideas for improving the State’s pension scheme and reassured them that the current Lagos State administration under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is not owing any pensions.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Bosede Ibesanmi, Head of Retail & Micro Insurance at GNI, expressed gratitude to the attendees for their enthusiastic participation, promising continued excellence in service delivery.
