NIA Trains Over 80 Tech Leaders to Boost Digital Resilience in Insurance Sector
In a strategic effort to bolster digital resilience and innovation across Nigeria’s insurance industry, the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), in partnership with Training Heights, recently conducted a specialized training program for more than 80 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and senior IT leaders from its member companies.
Held in two sessions on May 31 and June 14, the training focused on global best practices in IT governance and risk management, covering key standards such as ISO 27001 (Information Security Management Systems), ISO 20000 (IT Service Management Systems), and ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management Systems).
In her opening address, Mrs. Bola Odukale, Director General of the NIA, emphasized the significance of the training in driving industry-wide digital transformation.
“This initiative not only empowers individual participants but also reinforces our broader agenda of reshaping the insurance landscape through digital disruption and social innovation,” she said.
Odukale encouraged participants to leverage the knowledge gained to enhance secure and efficient management of information systems, noting that the training aligns with the current NIA Chairman’s theme: “Digital Disruption and Social Innovation: Reshaping Our Traditional Models.”
“It’s a vital step toward building a digitally capable insurance sector ready to face emerging challenges and foster innovation and trust,” she added.
The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Olumide Orlando, CEO of Training Heights and a leading expert in IT standards and compliance. Attendees included Chief Digital Officers (CDOs), Heads of IT, and other senior technology executives from NIA member firms.
The initiative underscores NIA’s commitment to equipping the industry with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
