The Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) has announced its readiness to partner with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to promote agricultural development and sustainability across the country.
This commitment was highlighted on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by ICRISAT officials to NAIC’s headquarters in Abuja. Both organisations discussed areas of shared interest and potential collaboration.
NAIC’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, expressed strong support for the partnership, emphasising NAIC’s dedication to building strategic alliances that enhance sustainable farming practices and protect farmers from agricultural risks.
Danfulani stressed that partnerships like this are essential for boosting resilience in the agricultural sector, especially in regions vulnerable to climate change and unpredictable weather patterns. He described the meeting as a timely step toward aligning objectives and reinforcing institutional cooperation to advance Nigeria’s food security agenda.
Representatives of both NAIC and ICRISAT reaffirmed their common vision and pledged to work together to develop practical solutions that will benefit smallholder farmers and the broader agricultural landscape.
