The Senate on Thursday confirmed the appointments of Dr. Oludare Sunday as Managing Director and Dr. Kabir Sabo Katata as Executive Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions during plenary. Presenting the report, Committee Chairman Senator Adetokunbo Abiru said the nominees had been thoroughly screened and found to be highly qualified, with no petitions or adverse reports filed against them.
Senator Abiru stated, “That the Senate do receive and consider the report of the Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions on the confirmation of the nomination for appointment as Managing Director and Executive Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).”
It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, in May, submitted the nominations of Dr. Oludare Sunday and Dr. Kabir Katata to the Senate for confirmation. The request was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and referred to the relevant committee for further action.
With their confirmation, both appointees are expected to take on leadership roles at the NDIC, with the responsibility of bolstering the stability and integrity of Nigeria’s banking and financial system.
