The Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Ayo Olusegun Omosehin, and the President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, have both commended the annual Insurance Meets Tech (IMT) Conference for its instrumental role in driving digital innovation and accelerating technological adoption in Nigeria’s insurance sector.
Their commendation came during the opening ceremony of the inaugural CIIN Insurance Awareness Week, held in Lagos. Themed “Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future,” the event brought together leading insurance professionals, policymakers, tech innovators, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the future of insurance in Nigeria.
Mrs. Ilori praised the IMT conference for its consistently impactful discourse and its emphasis on collaborative innovation. She noted that the annual event has become a vital platform for promoting a technology-first mindset, which she described as critical to the transformation of the Nigerian insurance industry.
Mr. Omosehin, in his remarks, highlighted the growing importance of digital innovation, stressing that it is no longer optional but essential to the growth, relevance, and accessibility of insurance in the country.
“Platforms like Insurance Meets Tech are more than just talk shops—they are engines of disruption modernising how we engage with the insuring public,” he said. “I commend the Convener for this disruptive and timely initiative, and I encourage all stakeholders to embrace technology and build the trust required to expand insurance coverage across all segments of society.”
In response, IMT Founder and Convener, Mr. Odion Aleobua, expressed appreciation for the recognition from the industry’s leadership.
