In a bold move to make insurance education more accessible and engaging for everyday Nigerians, Heirs Insurance Group has officially unveiled the first cohort of its groundbreaking Creators Fellowship on Friday, August 1, 2025, at its Lagos headquarters.
The Heirs Insurance Creators Fellowship is a first-of-its-kind social impact initiative that brings together content creation and financial education, with the goal of simplifying insurance concepts through digital storytelling. This innovative program aims to drive nationwide insurance literacy, especially among young Nigerians navigating modern life in a digital-first world.
The inaugural cohort features two dynamic digital creators:
- Joseph Onaolapo (Jay On Air) – a popular radio host and community-centered content creator known for his humor and authenticity.
- Oluwadamilola Bello (Dammy B) – a vibrant lifestyle influencer who turns everyday moments into insightful, relatable stories.
These fellows will serve as Heirs Insurance ambassadors, using their platforms to break down complex insurance topics into content that is educational, relatable, and culturally relevant.
Speaking on the initiative, Ifesinachi Okpagu, Chief Marketing Officer at Heirs Insurance Group, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Joseph and Oluwadamilola as our first Creators Fellows. Their unique ability to make complex ideas simple is exactly what this initiative is about. By partnering with them, we’re not just educating Nigerians — we’re doing it in ways that resonate, using the language of today’s digital culture. Our goal is to normalize conversations around financial preparedness and position insurance as a tool for long-term stability, growth, and peace of mind.”
Jay On Air expressed his excitement about the partnership:
“Storytelling is powerful. It connects, educates, and transforms. Joining this fellowship gives me the platform to make finance and insurance feel real and relevant to people like me — everyday Nigerians who just want to be informed and secure.”
Dammy B echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of protection for business owners and individuals alike:
“This fellowship is more than content — it’s about impact. Financial protection is fundamental to growth, and I’m proud to use my voice to help demystify insurance for entrepreneurs, families, and young professionals across Nigeria.”
The fellowship builds on Heirs Insurance Group’s strong track record of redefining insurance through education, innovation, and youth engagement. The Group made headlines in 2024 with the launch of “The Underwriters,” Africa’s first insurance-themed web series, and continues to inspire future leaders through initiatives like the Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, connecting students and their families to the fundamentals of financial literacy.
With the launch of the Creators Fellowship, Heirs Insurance Group is once again pushing boundaries — using creativity and culture to spark a nationwide shift in how Nigerians understand and engage with insurance.
