Nigeria’s Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Omosehin, will lead discussions on the intersection of aviation and insurance at the 5th Chinet Aviacargo Conference, set for September 16, 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Themed “How e-Commerce is Shaping the Future of Logistics in Africa,” this year’s conference will assemble key players from aviation, logistics, insurance, and trade. Omosehin is expected to deliver a paper on “Emerging Synergy Between Insurance and Aviation,” highlighting how stronger collaboration can boost resilience, safety, and long-term sustainability in Nigeria’s aviation and cargo sectors.
The Insurance Session—long regarded as one of Chinet’s signature segments—will feature top industry voices. Babajide Olatunde-Agbeja, Chairman of Boff & Company Insurance Brokers Ltd, will moderate the session, while contributions will come from Bimbo Onakomaiya, MD of Peakthrust Insurance Brokers Ltd and President of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA), and Kunle Ahmed, Chairman of the Nigerian Insurance Association.
Organisers noted that aviation and insurance are deeply interconnected: airlines depend on insurance to manage risk and ensure smooth operations, while the insurance sector leverages aviation growth to broaden its portfolio and economic impact. Stronger synergy between both industries, they said, could enhance trust, competitiveness, and global relevance for Nigeria’s air cargo market.
Now in its fifth year, the Chinet Aviacargo Conference has grown into the premier gathering for the country’s aviation and logistics stakeholders, attracting government agencies, cargo companies, airlines, insurance executives, and foreign diplomats.
The 2025 edition will run alongside the 21st Akwaaba African Travel Market, West Africa’s largest tourism expo, which will host more than 3,000 participants and the continent’s biggest airline showcase. Together, the dual events promise unmatched networking across aviation, logistics, travel, and tourism.
The three-day programme (September 14–16) will also feature thematic conferences, exhibitions, awards, and cultural showcases, including the Jollof Rice War, the Top 100 Hotel Awards, the Women in Tourism Conference, and the Africa Travel 100 Awards.
Omosehin’s participation, organisers said, underscores a renewed push to create an enabling environment where airlines, cargo operators, and insurers collaborate more closely to drive innovation, ensure safety, and support Nigeria’s aviation future.
