As the festive “Ember Months” approach, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc has called on Nigerians to stay alert and avoid reckless behaviour that could lead to accidents, fires, or other preventable disasters.
The company’s Managing Director, Olaotan Soyinka, made the appeal during an insurance event in Lagos, reminding citizens that owning an insurance policy is not a license for carelessness.
“Accidents tend to rise during the Ember Months as people rush to meet year-end goals,” Soyinka said. “Even in the excitement of the season, we must stay cautious and safety-conscious to avoid unnecessary mishaps.”
He stressed that while insurance offers financial protection against unexpected losses, it should never replace responsible behaviour.
“Insurance is a cushion, not a permit for recklessness,” he warned.
The Ember Months — typically September to December — are notorious for increased road crashes, fire incidents, and other emergencies as travel and commercial activities peak nationwide. Sovereign Trust urged Nigerians to prioritize safety whether behind the wheel, at home, or in the workplace.
Established in 1995, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc is a Nigerian Stock Exchange-listed firm with a strong presence across major cities.
