It was a night of glamour and celebration as leading insurance firms and executives were honoured at the 2025 Almond Insurance Industry Awards (#Recharged Edition), held on Friday, November 7, at the Stable Event Centre, Lagos.
Top industry players, policymakers, and dignitaries gathered for the annual event, which recognises excellence and innovation in Nigeria’s insurance sector. The ceremony featured performances in comedy, music, and dance-drama, adding a touch of entertainment to the business-filled evening.
Notable guests included the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Mr. Bolaji Sumonla, Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Consultative Council, and Hon. Mayor Emilagba Jubril Kolawole, Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, among others.
Industry Leaders Take the Spotlight
At the end of the night, NEM Insurance Plc emerged General Insurance Company of the Year, while AXA Mansard Insurance Plc clinched Life Insurance Company of the Year. Casava Microinsurance received a Special Recognition Award, and SCIB Nigeria & Co. was named Insurance Broking Company of the Year.
In the individual categories, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, Managing Director and CEO of REX Insurance, won Insurance Woman of the Year, while Mrs. Enitan Solarin, MD/CEO of YOA Insurance Brokers, was crowned Insurance Broker of the Year.
The most coveted honour of the night — Insurance CEO of the Year — went to Mr. Kunle Ahmed, MD/CEO of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc and current Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), recognised for his transformative leadership and strategic impact on the company’s growth.
Thousands of Votes, Rigorous Criteria
The 2025 edition drew more than 17,000 votes from industry professionals and the general public, reflecting the growing interest in recognising excellence within the insurance ecosystem.
Organisers said that the selection criteria for company awards included financial strength, gross premium income, claims efficiency, corporate social responsibility, and brand visibility. Individual awardees were assessed based on leadership performance, years of service, and contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s insurance industry With heightened competition, innovation, and digital transformation shaping the sector, this year’s Almond Awards reaffirmed the resilience and progress of Nigeria’s insurance industry — celebrating those driving its renewed relevance and public trust.
