The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), in collaboration with major development partners, has launched the Inclusive Insurance Innovation Challenge (IIIC) Nigeria 2025 — a national initiative aimed at expanding insurance access to underserved and excluded communities.
Formally announced on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the programme is positioned as a catalyst for developing cutting-edge, scalable solutions that address gaps in Nigeria’s insurance penetration.
Speaking at the launch, NAICOM’s Head of Innovation, Mr. Kenneth Aroh, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transforming the insurance landscape through technology, creativity, and regulatory support. He highlighted the initiative’s focus on structured mentorship for participants, regulatory guidance to ensure industry compliance, and targeted advocacy to promote inclusive insurance products capable of protecting vulnerable populations.
Aroh also revealed that planning has begun for the next edition — the Inclusive Insurance Innovation Challenge Nigeria 2.0, scheduled for 2026. The upcoming version is expected to attract a broader coalition of insurers, InsurTech innovators, public institutions, donors, and private-sector players.
According to NAICOM, the Challenge is intended to accelerate progress toward a more inclusive insurance market and strengthen national mechanisms that guarantee equitable access to risk protection for all Nigerians.
