
As part of efforts to deepen insurance awareness and boost industry participation across Nigeria, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has announced the launch of the first-ever Insurance Industry Week, themed “Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future.”
Speaking during a virtual press briefing, CIIN President, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, outlined the schedule of events, noting that the celebrations will kick off on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with an Insurance Awareness Walk. The walk will begin at the NEM Insurance Plc head office in Obanikoro, along Ikorodu Road, and end at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The weeklong celebration includes a variety of events aimed at educating the public and engaging key stakeholders:
June 30: Opening ceremony at the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Hall, Victoria Island, Lagos.
July 1–2: Insurance awareness campaigns at selected secondary schools and among Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Market Outreach: Awareness drives at major Lagos markets including Sabo, Oyingbo, Bariga, and retail centers such as Shoprite and Spar.
July 3: A Hackathon competition at the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM) in Asese, Ogun State.
July 4: Grand finale at Paradise Event Centre, Alagomeji, Lagos.
According to Ilori, the celebrations will run concurrently in other major cities including Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan. She added that part of the week’s highlight will be the presentation of awards to deserving Nigerians as a way of appreciating their support for the industry.
During the announcement, the institute also unveiled the official mascot for the event, named Niko.
