The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) will officially commence its 2025 Insurance Week on June 28 in Lagos, under the theme: “Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future.”
Speaking during a virtual meeting over the weekend, CIIN President, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, outlined a series of events designed to raise awareness and promote the benefits of insurance to Nigerians across various sectors.
The week will kick off with a fitness walk from the NEM Insurance Plc Head Office in Obanikoro to the National Stadium, Surulere. The opening ceremony will follow on June 30, at the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Hall, Victoria Island.
Activities on July 1 will feature an insurance awareness campaign targeting secondary schools and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This will be followed on July 2 by a community market outreach across key locations, including Sabo Market, Oyingbo Market, Bariga Market, Shoprite, and Spar, aimed at engaging traders and everyday consumers.
Other highlights include a Hackathon competition at the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM) in Asese, Ogun State, on July 3, with the grand finale slated for July 4 in Alagomeji, Yaba.
Mrs. Ilori also noted that the celebration will extend beyond Lagos to other key cities, including Ibadan, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano, to ensure broad national participation.
Chairman of the Insurance Week Organising Committee, Eddie Efekoha, called on stakeholders to lend their full support to the initiative, which he described as vital for deepening insurance penetration in Nigeria.
Also speaking, Segun Bankole, Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Managers of Nigeria Insurance Association (CAMCONIA), encouraged his peers across the industry to actively participate.
“The Insurance Week presents a strategic platform for companies to showcase their products, demonstrate value, and strengthen brand visibility,” Bankole said. “It’s a chance to engage the public in a competitive yet collaborative way, ultimately driving industry growth.”
The 2025 Insurance Week is expected to be one of the most engaging editions yet, bringing together professionals, consumers, students, and innovators to champion insurance as a tool for financial security and national development.
