Daily Economy is set to commemorate its second anniversary with the launch of a new book documenting the evolution of Nigeria’s insurance industry over two decades.
Authored by award-winning journalist and editor, Nike Popoola, the book titled “Trends in Nigeria’s Insurance Industry (2005–2025) & Selected Insurance Icons” will be unveiled on March 31, 2026, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.
According to the organisers, the publication draws on years of reporting and research to chronicle key developments within the sector, including regulatory reforms, recapitalisation efforts, and the contributions of leading industry figures.
Popoola noted that the book was inspired by the need to document the industry’s transformation and preserve its institutional history. She said it highlights how Nigeria’s insurance sector has evolved from a relatively underdeveloped space into a more significant contributor to the economy, while also recognising individuals who played pivotal roles in that growth.
The event will feature the Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, who is expected to deliver the keynote address and formally present the book.
Chairman of Prestige Insurance Brokers Limited, Feyisayo Soyewo, will preside over the event, while the Group Managing Director of the African Reinsurance Corporation, Corneille Karekezi, will attend as Special Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries expected at the launch include the President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Yetunde Ilori; Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association, Kunle Ahmed; and President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Ekeoma Ezeibe.
The publisher described the book launch as both a milestone celebration and a contribution to the broader insurance ecosystem, aimed at promoting financial literacy and industry awareness.
The publication is expected to serve as a resource for professionals, policymakers, researchers, and students, and includes photographic documentation of major industry events spanning the past 20 years.
