Insurance and financial services company emPLE has renewed its commitment to promoting sustainability by partnering with ART X Lagos 2025, West Africa’s premier international art fair.
In a statement on Wednesday, the firm announced that it would serve as a bronze sponsor and presenting partner of a special sustainability-focused project at the event. The collaboration marks emPLE’s second consecutive year supporting ART X Lagos.
As part of the partnership, emPLE will provide general liability insurance for ART X Lagos 2025, ensuring the fair runs safely and smoothly. The company will also sponsor featured artist Temitayo Ogunbiyi, whose installation titled “Where There is Life, There is Hope (B’á ò kú, iṣẹ ò tán)” explores how creativity can connect communities and reimagine urban spaces as places of care, collaboration, and possibility.
Through her diverse practice—which spans drawing, painting, sculpture, and site-specific installations—Ogunbiyi examines how people interact with their environments and with one another, inviting audiences to reflect on how geography, movement, and shared experiences shape collective futures.
Olalekan Oyinlade, Managing Director and CEO of emPLE General Insurance, emphasized the company’s belief in the transformative power of creativity:
“At emPLE, we believe insurance is more than protection; it’s a possibility. By supporting artists who translate sustainability into vision and action, we reinforce our belief that progress is a collective act. Through creativity, we can help communities imagine futures where care, responsibility, and innovation coexist.”
Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, Founder and Chairman of ART X, welcomed emPLE’s continued support as the fair celebrates its 10th anniversary:
“We are delighted to welcome emPLE back as a sponsor for the second year running. Their vision for sustainable progress aligns closely with our mission to elevate African creativity. This ongoing partnership reflects our shared belief in art’s power to drive meaningful change and shape a future that is both remarkable and responsible.”
The Special Project, curated by Missola Libsekal, will be featured during ART X Lagos 2025.
Founded in 2016, ART X Lagos celebrates the richness of contemporary African art and culture, highlighting the creativity of artists from across the continent and its diaspora.
