Pan-African insurance and financial services firm emPLE has renewed its partnership with ART X Lagos as a Bronze Sponsor and Presenting Partner of a Special Project spotlighting sustainability at the 2025 edition of West Africa’s leading international art fair.
This marks emPLE’s second consecutive year supporting ART X Lagos — a collaboration that underscores the company’s commitment to fostering a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient Africa.
As part of the agreement, emPLE will provide general liability insurance for the 2025 fair, ensuring a safe and seamless experience for artists, exhibitors, and visitors alike.
The insurer will also sponsor Nigerian artist Temitayo Ogunbiyi, whose new installation titled “Where There Is Life, There Is Hope (B’á ò kú, iṣẹ ò tán)” explores how creativity can strengthen community bonds and reimagine urban spaces as hubs of collaboration and care.
Ogunbiyi’s multidisciplinary practice—spanning drawing, sculpture, and site-specific installations—invites audiences to reflect on how geography, movement, and shared experiences shape communal futures.
Speaking on the partnership, Olalekan Oyinlade, MD/CEO of emPLE General Insurance, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s belief in creativity as a driver of sustainable progress.
“At emPLE, we believe insurance is more than protection; it’s a possibility,” he said. “By supporting artists who translate sustainability into vision and action, we reaffirm our belief that progress is a collective act.”
ART X Founder and Chairman, Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, welcomed emPLE’s return, noting that the partnership reflects a shared mission to advance African creativity through purposeful collaboration.
“As ART X Lagos celebrates its 10th anniversary, we’re delighted to have emPLE back on board,” Peterside-Schwebig said. “Their vision for sustainable progress mirrors our own belief in the power of art to inspire change and shape a remarkable, responsible future.”
Curated by Missola Libsekal, the Special Project will debut at ART X Lagos 2025, accompanied by a cross-country campaign spanning Nigeria and Ghana to amplify its message beyond the fairgrounds.
The partnership aligns with emPLE’s INSPIRE values—Integrity, Nurture, Service, Purpose, Innovation, Respect, and Excellence—and its broader mission to empower individuals, institutions, and communities to thrive sustainably.
Founded in 2016, ART X Lagos has become a cornerstone of Africa’s contemporary art scene, attracting artists and galleries from over 70 countries and visitors from more than 170 nations. With multidisciplinary programming across art, music, film, and dialogue, the fair continues to shape global conversations around African creativity and innovation.
