Small businesses and low-income households in Nigeria are set to gain new insights into expanding access to microinsurance as Goxi Microinsurance holds its Third Annual Conference next Wednesday at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The event, organized in partnership with the Microinsurance Network—a global multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to advancing inclusive insurance—will focus on strengthening financial protection for vulnerable groups and entrepreneurs.
With the theme “Reflection on Microinsurance in Nigeria for Inclusive Growth,” the conference will explore how affordable insurance products can help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), traders, and low-income families mitigate risks and recover from unexpected financial shocks.
Over the past five years, Goxi Microinsurance has paid out over ₦636 million in claims to victims of market fires, accidents, and social crises, demonstrating its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s most vulnerable communities.
“Microinsurance in Nigeria has come a long way, but we must do more to ensure that small businesses and low-income households are adequately protected,” said Shina Gbadegesin, Managing Director of Goxi Microinsurance. “When a market fire or accident happens, insurance should not be a luxury—it should be a lifeline.”
Industry experts say that despite progress, many traders and small business owners still operate without any insurance cover, leaving them exposed to losses. The upcoming conference will highlight digital innovations, gender-focused products, and community-based partnerships as key tools to bridge this protection gap and drive inclusive economic growth.
Recognized with several awards for excellence, Goxi Microinsurance continues to champion the role of microinsurance in building resilience among Nigeria’s underserved populations.
This year’s edition will bring together thought leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders for engaging sessions, exhibitions, and networking aimed at shaping the future of inclusive insurance in Nigeria.
