Ademola Ayotunde Abidogun, Managing Director of Guinea Insurance Plc and a Governing Council member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), has expressed strong support for the upcoming Insurance Industry Week, describing it as a bold and timely initiative by CIIN President, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori.
Abidogun commended the Institute’s leadership for launching the event, encouraging all industry stakeholders, practitioners, and the general public to actively participate in the scheduled activities.
“A united show of presence and purpose will not only ensure the success of this inaugural event but also underscore the vital role insurance plays in building a more secure and inclusive Nigeria,” he stated.
Recognizing the progress the industry has made, Abidogun emphasized that more work lies ahead. He announced his intention to contest in the upcoming 2025 CIIN Governing Council elections, reaffirming his commitment to advancing the Institute’s mission and amplifying the industry’s voice.
“As we push forward, let’s do so with unity, intention, and #ForwardWithResolve,” he added.
The maiden edition of Insurance Industry Week was officially unveiled by CIIN President Ilori, and will run from June 27 to July 4, 2025, across key cities including Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
The initiative aims to boost public awareness of insurance, enhance industry collaboration, and highlight the sector’s contributions to national development. Held under the theme “Insurance for All: Securing Nigeria’s Future,” the week-long celebration will feature awareness walks, educational campaigns, market outreach, tech-driven competitions, and a grand finale.
Speaking at the official briefing, Ilori underscored the strategic relevance of the initiative, expressing confidence in its ability to build public trust and engagement.
Echoing her sentiments, Chairman of the Organising Committee and former CIIN President, Mr. Eddie Efekoha, said the programme has been thoughtfully designed to leave a lasting impact and reignite enthusiasm within the insurance ecosystem.
