As part of its mission to simplify insurance education and expand financial literacy nationwide, Heirs Insurance has launched the first cohort of its inaugural Creators Fellowship, a social impact initiative aimed at transforming how Nigerians understand and engage with insurance.
The newly launched programme features two dynamic digital storytellers—Joseph Onaolapo (Jay On Air), a radio personality and community-focused content creator known for his humorous approach, and Oluwadamilola Bello (Dammy B), a lifestyle creator who weaves life lessons into everyday experiences. Both have been named Heirs Insurance Fellows and will collaborate with the company to demystify insurance for a broad and youthful audience.
The Creators Fellowship is designed to equip digital creators with the tools and platform to become trusted financial educators. By harnessing the power of creativity, culture, and digital storytelling, Heirs Insurance aims to break down complex insurance concepts and make financial education more accessible—particularly for young Nigerians navigating work, family, and personal development in a fast-paced digital era.
Chief Marketing Officer of Heirs Insurance Group, Ifesinachi Okpagu, described the Fellowship as a timely and innovative approach to changing how insurance is perceived.
“We are excited to work with Joseph and Oluwadamilola, both of whom bring a relatable and creative approach to simplifying complex ideas,” she said. “This initiative is about making financial preparedness and insurance conversations part of everyday life. We believe this Fellowship will educate in ways that are relevant, impactful, and engaging.”
Joseph Onaolapo (Jay On Air) expressed enthusiasm about joining the initiative.
“I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to drive real change. This Fellowship gives me the platform to use my voice to make finance and insurance feel real and relatable to everyday Nigerians.”
Oluwadamilola Bello (Dammy B) echoed the sentiment, saying the initiative presents an opportunity to empower business owners and individuals alike.
“For me, protection is key to growth. Through this Fellowship, I aim to use storytelling to make insurance and finance understandable and practical—especially for entrepreneurs and young professionals.”
The Heirs Insurance Creators Fellowship builds on the Group’s wider commitment to innovation and education in the insurance space. In 2024, Heirs Group launched The Underwriters, Africa’s first insurance-themed web series, and continues to reach young audiences through initiatives like the Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, which promotes financial literacy among students and their families.
With this latest initiative, Heirs Insurance reaffirms its goal of making insurance simple, accessible, and relevant for all Nigerians, especially the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.
