Nigeria’s insurance landscape took center stage in Lagos as a powerful new publication ignited praise from regulators and industry leaders alike.
The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has lauded the author of a newly released book, “Trends in Nigeria’s Insurance Industry (2005–2026) and Selected Insurance Icons,” describing it as a landmark contribution to the sector’s intellectual and historical foundation.
The author, Nike Popoola, was celebrated for delivering a compelling chronicle of the industry’s evolution—one that captures both its struggles and triumphs over two transformative decades.
Representing the Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Omosehin, NAICOM’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, Rasaaq Salami, emphasized that the Federal Government remains committed to deepening reforms and tightening regulatory oversight to strengthen the sector.
Omosehin described the past 20 years as a defining era, marked by bold reforms and structural shifts that have reshaped Nigeria’s insurance industry.
Adding further weight to the book’s significance, Tope Adaramola, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, highlighted its rich historical depth. He noted that it captures critical milestones, including the game-changing 2007 recapitalisation exercise that redefined the industry’s trajectory.
Meanwhile, Yetunde Ilori, President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, praised Popoola as a relentless and versatile journalist. She credited her work with boosting awareness and elevating the visibility of insurance reporting across the country.
As the industry continues to evolve, the book stands as both a record of the past and a bold lens into the future—cementing its place as a must-read for stakeholders and observers alike.
