National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international cooperation as it received a delegation from Egypt’s leading non-life insurer, Misr Insurance, in Abuja.
The delegation, led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Maharaj, met with the Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, to explore opportunities emerging from Nigeria’s newly enacted Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025 and the ongoing transformation of the country’s insurance sector.
Other members of the Egyptian team included Ahmed Alkanhawy, Assistant CEO, and Hossein Shaky of the Egypt Embassy in Nigeria. They were warmly received by NAICOM’s leadership, who provided an overview of the Commission’s regulatory mandate, recent reform initiatives, and strategic efforts to strengthen the insurance market in alignment with Nigeria’s broader economic development goals.
Speaking during the visit, NAICOM reiterated its resolve to collaborate with international partners to deepen market capacity, enhance regulatory standards, and ensure stronger protection for policyholders.
Mohammed Maharaj, in his remarks, expressed keen interest in Nigeria’s non-life insurance and reinsurance segments. He also confirmed plans to engage industry stakeholders in Lagos as part of efforts to explore potential market entry and strategic partnerships.
The visit underscores growing cross-border interest in Nigeria’s evolving insurance landscape and highlights NAICOM’s openness to global partnerships aimed at driving sustainable sector growth.
