National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has approved the appointment of Mr Ademoye Shobo as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lasaco Assurance Plc.
The confirmation was disclosed in a corporate filing submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), with the regulatory approval taking effect from February 6, 2026. The disclosure was signed by the company secretary, Gertrude Olutekunbi.
The development formally clears Shobo to assume leadership of the insurer’s strategic and operational agenda at a time when the company is expanding its product offerings. Lasaco recently secured regulatory approval for six new insurance products as part of efforts to deepen market penetration.
Shobo is a seasoned insurance professional with over three decades of industry experience. He joined Lasaco Assurance in 1993 and has since held several senior management roles spanning audit, underwriting, technical operations, claims administration and marketing.
Prior to his elevation, he served as Executive Director (Technical), where he oversaw underwriting and risk management functions and played a key role in strengthening governance and operational processes across departments. His extensive institutional knowledge is widely regarded as critical to ensuring continuity and stability within the organisation.
Academically, Shobo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lagos State University (1988) and a Master of Business Administration from Nasarawa State University (2023). He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and has participated in various professional development programmes both locally and internationally.
