The Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE) will on September 16, 2025, host its 10th annual national conference in Lagos, bringing together top players in the insurance and pension industries to examine and strengthen the regulatory and operational frameworks shaping both sectors.
The high-profile event will be chaired by former Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Sunday Thomas, while the current Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, will attend as special guest of honour.
Other key figures expected include the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Mrs. Omolara Oloworaran; Chairman of Rex Insurance Limited, Mr. Ike Chioke; and Managing Director/CEO of Arthur Stevens Asset Management Limited, Mr. Olatunde Amolegbe, who will deliver the keynote address.
With the theme “Strengthening Pension and Insurance Framework for a Better Economy,” the conference is designed as a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas on how the two sectors can more effectively support Nigeria’s economic growth.
Industry leaders such as the Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Mr. Kunle Ahmed, and the President of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), Mr. Christopher Bajowa, will also contribute to the discussions, alongside regulators, operators, investors, and end-users.
The engagement will not be limited to industry professionals. Representatives of government agencies, labour unions—including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP)—as well as students, advocacy groups, and civil society organisations are expected to participate.
Speaking on the importance of the event, NAIPE Chairperson, Mrs. Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor, said the theme was chosen to reflect both the association’s 10th anniversary milestone and the urgent need to address structural challenges facing the insurance and pension industries.
“In line with our 10th anniversary, this year’s theme is apt as it will give stakeholders the opportunity to critically review the frameworks guiding insurance and pensions, while proffering solutions to challenges that have slowed their effective implementation,” she explained.
She added that the platform would not only measure the impact of current policies but also provide room for innovative solutions to drive financial inclusion and secure the future of millions of Nigerians who rely on pension and insurance schemes.
With regulators, operators, labour representatives, and advocacy groups under one roof, the 2025 NAIPE conference is expected to move beyond dialogue to chart a clear roadmap for reforms that can reposition Nigeria’s insurance and pension systems as engines of sustainable economic growth.
