The Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Kunle Ahmed, has been announced as a Guest of Honour at the 2025 edition of Insurance Meets Tech (IMT), West Africa’s foremost platform driving conversations around insurance, technology, and policy innovation.
The announcement, made on Thursday, noted that Ahmed, who also serves as Chief Executive Officer of AXA Mansard Insurance, will join a distinguished lineup of industry leaders confirmed for the conference.
Among them are:
- Babatunde Oguntade, President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB)
- Mrs. Yetunde Olubunmi Ilori, President/Chairman of Council, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN)
- Mrs. Abimbola Onakomaiya, President, Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA)
- Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Convener of the event and CEO of Modion Communications, Odion Aleobua, described Ahmed’s participation as a major boost for the conference.
“Having the NIA Chairman on board is a monumental buildup to this event. Kunle Ahmed is not only a respected leader at the helm of the industry’s umbrella body but also a strong advocate for digitalisation and tech-driven innovation in Nigeria’s insurance sector,” Aleobua said.
He added that Ahmed’s presence was especially timely, following the passage of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act and the establishment of the NIA Innovation Lab. “His insights and perspectives will undoubtedly enrich the conversations at IMT 2025,” Aleobua remarked.
This year’s conference will also feature South Africa’s Per Lagerström as the keynote speaker. A global authority on insurtech, behavioural science, and innovation, Lagerström is a former McKinsey & Company partner with extensive expertise in financial services and strategy consulting. He is also the founder of BehaviorTech, a pioneering field that integrates behavioural science, artificial intelligence, and innovation to deliver transformative impact across businesses and societies.
