The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has concluded the second phase of its 2026 Insurance Risk Engineering Survey at the Omotosho and Sapele Power Plants, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence, asset integrity, and risk management across its generation assets.
The exercise, which ended on Friday, 13 February 2026, forms part of the company’s strategic collaboration with global insurance partners to ensure its critical infrastructure aligns with international safety and risk management standards.
The comprehensive assessment examined equipment conditions, operational safety procedures, maintenance protocols, and environmental risk factors. The goal, according to the company, is to enhance plant reliability while minimising operational and financial exposure.
Speaking during a feedback session following the survey, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Omololu Agoro, who represented management, commended both the survey team and plant personnel for their professionalism and cooperation throughout the process.
He noted that periodic risk engineering evaluations are vital to protecting the company’s investments and sustaining power generation capacity in line with global best practices.
Agoro added that insights from the exercise would strengthen NDPHC’s continuous improvement framework, particularly in boosting plant availability, optimising maintenance strategies, and improving the company’s insurance positioning.
The session also featured a valedictory ceremony in honour of Mr. Mike Corbett of Zurich Insurance Group (UK), who is retiring after 13 years of service supporting NDPHC’s insurance risk management initiatives.
Management and staff paid tribute to Corbett’s technical expertise and professionalism, acknowledging his contributions to strengthening the company’s risk engineering culture. Participants highlighted his involvement in multiple risk assessments across NDPHC plants, which enhanced compliance with international insurance standards and strengthened stakeholder confidence.
The Omotosho and Sapele survey forms part of a broader nationwide risk engineering programme covering NDPHC’s generation assets under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP).
