The Nigerian insurance industry will host the 2025 Education Conference of the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA), scheduled for October 12–15, 2025, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos.
Organized by the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) on behalf of the wider Nigerian insurance market, the conference will bring together delegates from across West Africa, including Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and other member nations.
This year’s theme, “The West African Insurer in the Face of Climate Change,” will focus on the growing responsibility of insurers in mitigating the impact of climate-related disasters on communities and economies.
With global insurers under pressure to align with the Paris Agreement, the forum is expected to highlight the need for West African insurers to adopt sustainable practices, integrate environmental risk into underwriting, and design inclusive products that protect vulnerable populations.
Nigeria’s role as a regional hub, combined with its expanding insurance market and commitment to sustainable development, makes it a fitting host for the event. Delegates will also experience the cultural vibrancy and hospitality that Lagos has to offer.
