Curacel, Nigeria’s fast-rising AI-powered insurance infrastructure company, has clinched victory at the 2025 GITEX Nigeria Supernova Challenge, earning the chance to represent the country at the prestigious Glovo Startup Campus in Barcelona this October.
The Lagos-based firm topped 11 other finalists during the grand finale at Landmark Event Centre, beating out competition across Agritech, Cybersecurity, Healthtech, and other innovation-driven sectors.
The Supernova Challenge, a globally recognised pitch contest, made its regional debut in Nigeria this year. Over 650 startups from 27 countries competed over two days for a share of the $22,000 prize pool.
By securing the win, Curacel’s CEO, Henry Mascot, will join leading founders worldwide for Glovo’s third Startup Campus—a week-long accelerator hosted at the company’s Barcelona headquarters, designed to drive growth, global networking, and collaboration.
“This is a testament to the creativity and resilience of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem,” said Lamide Akinola, Glovo Nigeria’s General Manager and one of the challenge jurors. She added that the milestone marks Glovo’s commitment to spotlighting Africa’s startup talent on the world stage.
Curacel’s Vice President, Commercial, Abduljahab Momoh, welcomed the recognition, noting that it will fuel the company’s ambitions to expand across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States.
The 2025 Glovo Startup Campus marks the first time Nigeria will take part in the initiative, following a strategic partnership between Glovo and the GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo and Future Economy Summit.
