Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), has called on employers across Nigeria to adhere to the Employee Compensation Act to ensure the well‑being of their workers.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the 4th Nigeria Employers Summit, organized by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Barrister Faleye emphasized that the welfare of employees must be a top priority for every enterprise, regardless of other considerations.
While acknowledging the many challenges faced by private‑sector employers, he urged stakeholders to recognize that sustainable growth can only be achieved by prioritizing the safety and well‑being of workers. “It is by complying with laws such as the Employee Compensation Act, which established the Employee Compensation Scheme, that we can achieve this,” he stated.
Barrister Faleye also commended the strong partnership between NSITF and NECA, highlighting their shared commitment to advancing the interests of Nigeria’s workforce, especially in the private sector. He lauded NECA’s leadership role in collaborating with NSITF to uplift workers across the country.
The NSITF MD promised to continue engaging stakeholders such as NECA to ensure full compliance with the Employee Compensation Act and to guarantee the protection and welfare of every Nigerian worker.
