The newly elected President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Akinjide Orimolade, has outlined a three-point agenda aimed at advancing the institute and equipping insurance professionals for the demands of a changing industry.
Speaking on his vision for the institute, Orimolade said his administration would prioritise technology adoption, enhanced insurance awareness and enforcement, and the construction of a permanent CIIN secretariat.
He explained that the agenda, branded as Technology, Enforcement and Building (TEB), is intended to consolidate the gains recorded under the leadership of his predecessor, Yetunde Ilori, while positioning the institute to meet emerging global trends in the insurance sector.
According to him, one of the administration’s immediate priorities is the full transition to hybrid computer-based professional examinations. The initiative is expected to make the institute’s examinations more accessible by allowing candidates across the country to sit for them without location-related challenges.
Orimolade also announced plans to establish an InsurTech Learning Hub that will provide continuous professional training in emerging areas of the insurance industry, including artificial intelligence, cyber risk management and other technology-driven disciplines.
He said the initiatives would enhance the capacity of insurance practitioners, promote innovation and ensure that members of the institute remain competitive in an increasingly digital global insurance market.
