Agricultural stakeholders across Nigeria have hailed the Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Danfulani, for what they described as transformative leadership and a renewed push toward national food security.
The commendation came from the Agricultural Stakeholders Forum, which credited Danfulani with repositioning NAIC as a central player in the country’s agricultural value chain. According to the group, his reforms are strengthening farmers’ confidence, providing essential insurance cover, and mitigating risks associated with agricultural investment.
Forum chairman, Dr. Inuwa Zakari Yau, in a statement on Wednesday, said Danfulani had brought “remarkable zeal, energy, and innovation” to NAIC since assuming office.
Stakeholders noted that his initiatives align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on tackling food insecurity and building agricultural resilience.
“Mr. Danfulani has given farmers the security they need to expand production. His initiatives are vital to the president’s vision of a hunger-free Nigeria,” the forum said.
They added that NAIC’s insurance role under Danfulani is critical in protecting farmers against climate-related shocks and market risks, while also encouraging youth participation and attracting private sector investment in agriculture.
The forum pledged continued support for NAIC and urged policymakers, financiers, and farmers’ associations to collaborate with Danfulani’s administration to strengthen agriculture as the foundation of Nigeria’s food security.
With NAIC’s renewed direction, stakeholders said, the country is better positioned to overcome food insecurity and achieve long-term agricultural prosperity.
