Prudential Zenith Life Insurance Limited has partnered with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to promote environmental sanitation and improve the safety of sanitation workers across Lagos State.
As part of the initiative, the insurer donated 200 overalls and 100 traffic cones to support LAWMA’s field personnel during daily sanitation operations.
The company said the overalls would provide additional protection for sanitation workers, while the traffic cones would improve visibility and help safeguard workers and other road users during operations.
Speaking on the partnership, Prudential Zenith Life’s Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Samuel Ohonusi, said a healthy environment was essential for resilient communities and sustainable business development.
According to a company statement, the donation reflects the insurer’s commitment to strengthening the safety, wellbeing and effectiveness of the people responsible for keeping the city clean.
“Our partnership with LAWMA is an investment in the safety and dignity of those who keep Lagos clean, and in the wellbeing of the people who depend on a safer, more organised city,” Ohonusi said.
He added that the donated equipment would help protect sanitation workers and support the systems that enable communities to thrive.
Receiving the items on behalf of the agency, LAWMA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, thanked the insurer for its support.
“We thank Prudential Zenith Life Insurance for this timely donation. The overalls and traffic cones will improve the safety and visibility of our sanitation workers,” Gbadegesin said.
He said the partnership demonstrated a shared commitment to a cleaner and safer Lagos, while encouraging other organisations to support efforts to improve environmental sanitation and community wellbeing.
The initiative also reflects Prudential Zenith Life Insurance’s focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, particularly through support for safer working conditions, cleaner neighbourhoods and more sustainable urban development.
