In a notable expansion of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, LG Electronics has broadened its health support offering for Nigerian consumers by introducing a free comprehensive health insurance package.
Initially launched as a malaria-focused insurance programme—targeting a disease responsible for approximately 26% of global cases in Nigeria—the initiative has now evolved into a multi-layered healthcare solution. This expansion is being implemented in partnership with AXA Mansard Health, a leading health insurance provider in Nigeria.
According to the company, the upgraded scheme represents a strategic shift from single-disease coverage to broader healthcare protection, offering consumers enhanced medical support and peace of mind.
The initiative is designed to bridge gaps in access to affordable healthcare, aligning LG’s technological offerings with meaningful social impact. As part of this programme, customers who purchase selected LG air conditioner models will receive complimentary access to the comprehensive insurance package.
The AXA Mansard-backed plan provides coverage for a wide range of common medical conditions, including malaria, uncomplicated typhoid, and other acute febrile illnesses. It also extends to respiratory conditions such as upper respiratory tract infections, mild cough, and bronchial asthma.
Additionally, the insurance covers gastrointestinal and parasitic illnesses—including diarrhoea, dysentery, and worm infections—as well as dermatological and minor injury-related conditions such as skin infections, dermatitis, lacerations, and bruises. Other covered conditions include musculoskeletal pain, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, and various uncomplicated bacterial, fungal, and viral infections.
Speaking on the initiative, Joonkyu Song, General Manager of the Eco Solutions Division at LG Electronics Nigeria, emphasized the company’s consumer-focused approach:
“This initiative reflects our understanding of what truly matters to Nigerian consumers beyond the products they purchase.
We began by addressing malaria due to its widespread impact, and we are now proud to extend this effort by offering broader health coverage. It is our way of supporting Nigerian families not just with reliable home solutions, but with care that extends into their everyday lives.”
Through its collaboration with AXA Mansard Health, LG aims to enhance quality of life by improving access to essential healthcare services for Nigerian households.
Beyond healthcare, LG continues to innovate within its air conditioning portfolio, tailoring products to Nigeria’s climate and energy needs. Its DUALCOOL™ air conditioners, powered by Dual Inverter Compressor technology, are engineered to deliver faster cooling while significantly reducing energy consumption.
The systems also feature smart connectivity, allowing users to control and monitor cooling remotely via compatible devices—supporting improved energy efficiency and personalized comfort.
In addition, selected models incorporate LG’s Mosquito Away™ technology, which uses ultrasonic waves to help reduce mosquito presence indoors—an especially relevant feature in malaria-prone regions.
For consumers prioritizing design and performance, the ARTCOOL™ series combines modern aesthetics with advanced cooling, air purification, and energy efficiency, positioning it as a premium solution for contemporary Nigerian homes.
With this initiative, LG continues to integrate technological innovation with practical lifestyle benefits, reinforcing its commitment to delivering solutions that go beyond appliances to support healthier living.
