Lagos – emPLE Nigeria has unveiled an ambitious five-year growth strategy aimed at positioning the company among Nigeria’s top five insurance providers, following the successful recapitalisation of the insurance industry under the Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025.
The company said the strengthened capital base and renewed commitment from shareholders have created the foundation for a new phase of expansion focused on innovation, digital transformation and broader access to insurance services across the country.
According to emPLE, the industry’s recapitalisation exercise represents more than compliance with regulatory requirements. It provides insurers with greater financial capacity to invest in technology, strengthen distribution networks, develop new products and improve service delivery to meet the changing needs of individuals and businesses.
As part of its long-term strategy, the insurer plans to expand its presence in underserved markets, deepen strategic partnerships and accelerate digital initiatives designed to make insurance products more accessible, affordable and customer-focused.
The company said the investments are intended to strengthen its competitiveness while delivering sustainable value to policyholders, shareholders, employees and the wider economy.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of emPLE General Insurance Limited, Olalekan Oyinlade, described the industry’s recapitalisation as a transformative opportunity that extends beyond meeting regulatory thresholds.
He said the increased confidence shown by shareholders would enable the company to pursue more ambitious investments and build an institution capable of supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic aspirations.
Oyinlade noted that emPLE’s objective is to become a leading provider of risk management solutions while contributing to the development of a stronger insurance industry capable of supporting Nigeria’s drive towards a $1 trillion economy.
