Speaking on the importance of the engagement, Olamide Olajolo, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Coronation Insurance Plc, emphasised the need for continued partnership between industry operators and the regulator.
“The growth and transformation of Nigeria’s insurance industry will require strong collaboration between the regulator and industry stakeholders. Engagements such as this provide an important platform for us to align on priorities, share perspectives and work collectively towards building a stronger and more resilient insurance market,” Olamide said.
The discussions focused on key industry initiatives, including the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Agenda (NIIRA) 2025 and the Risk-Based Capital (RBC) project, both of which are aimed at strengthening the capacity, resilience and competitiveness of the Nigerian insurance market.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss measures to improve operational efficiency, deepen insurance penetration, strengthen risk management practices and enhance confidence in the insurance industry.
Olamide further highlighted the importance of creating an environment that enables insurance companies to innovate, respond effectively to evolving customer needs and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic development.
“As an industry, we must continue to raise the bar in how we serve our customers, manage risk and contribute to the broader economy. A stronger regulatory framework, supported by constructive engagement with operators, will help create the confidence and capacity needed for the industry to achieve its full potential,” he added.
The courtesy visit underscores the shared commitment of the NIA, NAICOM and industry stakeholders to advancing reforms that will strengthen the Nigerian insurance sector and position it for sustainable long-term growth.
For Coronation Insurance Plc, the engagement reinforces its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote a stronger insurance ecosystem, improve policyholder confidence and expand the role of insurance in Nigeria’s economic development.
