Epicure Insurance Brokers Limited has unveiled plans to expand its services, accelerate digital transformation and deepen insurance penetration in Nigeria as it marks its 10th anniversary.
The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oyinpreye Aigbogun, disclosed the plans at an anniversary gala held in Lagos, saying its next phase of growth would focus on broader service offerings and stronger partnerships across the financial services sector.
“We should expect a richer and wider scope of services, more digitisation and deeper insurance penetration in Nigeria,” Aigbogun said.
She observed that insurance penetration in Nigeria remained relatively low compared with countries such as South Africa and Ghana, creating opportunities for industry operators to expand coverage and improve public awareness.
According to her, regulators, insurance professionals and industry advocates all have important roles to play in addressing the challenges limiting the sector’s growth.
“There’s still a lot of work to be done and everyone has a role to play, especially the regulators and the other advocates in the industry,” she said.
Aigbogun said collaboration would be central to Epicure’s strategy over the next decade, particularly efforts to integrate insurance into more financial products and everyday economic activities.
“So, over the next 10 years, we’re going to look at more collaboration and how to embed insurance in as many types of services as possible. Without insurance, there is no life. Insurance is everything,” she added.
Integrity, relationships underpin growth
Reflecting on the company’s first decade, Aigbogun attributed its survival and growth to a commitment to excellence, integrity and ethical business practices.
She said consistently doing the right thing, including when there was no external scrutiny, had helped the company build trust and maintain business relationships.
Chairman of Epicure Insurance Brokers, Obinnia Abajue, also identified trust, shared values and unity of purpose as important factors in the company’s development.
In his welcome address at the anniversary event, Abajue said the journey had involved overcoming challenges, pursuing opportunities and making decisions guided by the organisation’s core principles.
He noted that the founders had sometimes rejected business opportunities that did not align with the company’s long-term values.
“Along the way, we turned down opportunities that did not fit who we wanted to be in favour of values we believed were sustainable,” he said.
Abajue added that mutual support and a shared vision had helped the company navigate its early challenges and establish a platform for future expansion.
