Nigeria’s equities market is set for a busy September as 14 companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) hold Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) during the month.
The shareholder meetings, scheduled between September 14 and September 30, will bring together investors and company managements to consider financial results, dividend proposals, board matters and other corporate resolutions.
An analysis of the NGX X-Compliance Report published on September 4, 2026, shows that 13 companies are scheduled to hold AGMs, while African Alliance Insurance is set to convene an EGM.
The companies span several industries, including agriculture, insurance, oil and gas, consumer goods, logistics, publishing, technology and manufacturing.
With September 24 emerging as the busiest date, investors will have several corporate developments to monitor as companies with contrasting financial performances meet their shareholders.
Northern Nigeria Flour Mills — September 14
Northern Nigeria Flour Mills will open the September shareholder calendar with its AGM on September 14 in Kano.
The company experienced a significant deterioration in earnings during the financial year ended March 31, 2026.
Revenue fell from N35.3 billion to N21.5 billion, while profit before tax plunged by 96.1% to N112.7 million.
The weaker result was largely attributed to lower sales in its agricultural products business, particularly maize.
The company’s AGM therefore comes at a time when shareholders will be looking for explanations on the decline in revenue and the company’s strategy for restoring profitability.
Presco — September 15
Presco is scheduled to hold its AGM virtually on September 15.
The agro-industrial company delivered a considerably stronger performance in FY2025, with profit before tax climbing 57.4% to N177.98 billion from N113.22 billion.
The improvement was driven largely by stronger sales.
Shareholders are expected to consider a final dividend of N14.66 per share. When combined with interim payments, total dividends for the year amount to N44.66 per share.
Honeywell Flour Mills — September 16
Honeywell Flour Mills will hold its virtual AGM on September 16 following a year of modest revenue growth but improved profitability.
For the year ended March 31, 2026, revenue declined 3.4% to N360.85 billion, while profit before tax increased 3.3% to N21.90 billion.
Profit after tax rose 13% to N16.49 billion.
The company is also returning to the dividend-paying list after a one-year break, with the board proposing 20 kobo per share.
Oando — September 17
Oando will hold its AGM virtually on September 17 as shareholders review a year marked by weaker revenue and pre-tax earnings but stronger oil production.
Revenue fell 22.2% to N3.18 trillion in FY2025, while profit before tax declined 64.6% to N135.76 billion.
Profit after tax, however, rose to N204.8 billion, helped by tax credits and higher crude production.
Average daily production increased 32% to 32,482 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The company’s AGM will provide investors with an opportunity to assess the sustainability of its production growth and the outlook for earnings.
Red Star Express — September 17
Red Star Express is also scheduled to hold its virtual AGM on September 17.
The logistics company reported revenue growth of 8.5% to N23.49 billion for the year ended March 31, 2026.
Gross profit rose 23% to N7.29 billion, while profit before tax increased 16.2% to N1.07 billion. Profit after tax grew 7.1% to N585.26 million.
The company has proposed a dividend of 45 kobo per share, compared with 35 kobo previously.
However, rising administrative costs remain a concern. Administrative expenses increased 27.5% to N5.17 billion during the period.
Secure Electronic Technology — September 23
Secure Electronic Technology, a gaming and lottery company, will hold its AGM on September 23.
The company recorded a weaker FY2025 performance, with revenue declining 2.4% to N4.24 billion.
It posted a loss before tax and loss after tax of N166.79 million and declared no dividend.
Operating expenses increased 35.4% to N502.80 million, while total assets declined 8.1% to N4.45 billion.
Shareholders will therefore be assessing how management intends to reverse the company’s declining profitability and strengthen its balance sheet.
African Alliance Insurance — September 23
African Alliance Insurance will hold an EGM on September 23 rather than an annual general meeting, amid continuing financial pressures.
The life insurer has faced capital adequacy and solvency challenges, with accumulated losses significantly affecting its financial position.
Its FY2022 accounts showed a retained earnings deficit of N38.08 billion and shareholders’ equity of N3.94 billion, compared with insurance contract liabilities of N40.11 billion and total assets of N49.10 billion.
The company’s recovery prospects and efforts to strengthen its capital position are expected to remain key issues for shareholders.
September 24: Five companies meet shareholders
September 24 will be the busiest day on the calendar, with five NGX-listed companies scheduled to hold shareholder meetings.
Coronation Insurance will hold its AGM after recording substantial growth in insurance operations during FY2025.
Insurance revenue increased 51.4% to N74.83 billion, while net insurance and investment revenue rose 149% to N17.68 billion.
Despite the stronger operating numbers, profit before tax fell 30.4% to N9.65 billion, while profit after tax declined 36.8% to N7.52 billion. The reduction was attributed largely to the absence of the significant foreign exchange gains recorded in the previous year.
Learn Africa also meets shareholders on September 24 after recording a 59% increase in both profit before tax and profit after tax. Pre-tax profit reached N1.19 billion, while profit after tax stood at N753.11 million.
University Press will also hold its AGM on the same day. Revenue rose 14% to N3.89 billion, but profit before tax fell 37.2% to N389.52 million. The company has proposed an 18-kobo dividend per share.
Two other companies — Academy Press and Juli Plc — are also scheduled to hold their AGMs on September 24.
Omatek Ventures rounds off September meetings
Omatek Ventures will bring the September shareholder meeting calendar to a close with its AGM on September 30.
The meeting follows a month in which investors will have had the opportunity to scrutinise the performance and strategies of companies across multiple sectors.
What shareholders will be watching
The September meetings provide investors with an opportunity to question management teams about earnings, dividends, capital allocation, board decisions and future growth plans.
The financial results also reveal a mixed picture across the companies.
Presco, Honeywell Flour Mills, Red Star Express and Learn Africa are entering their meetings with improved profitability, while Northern Nigeria Flour Mills, Secure Electronic Technology and African Alliance Insurance face more significant financial challenges.
Virtual meetings are also becoming increasingly common, with Presco, Honeywell Flour Mills, Oando and Red Star Express among the companies opting for online AGMs.
Investors should, however, confirm meeting dates, venues, participation procedures and proposed resolutions with the relevant company registrars before relying on the information for attendance or investment decisions.
