At Coronation Life Assurance, we believe planning for your child’s education goes beyond preparing for the next school bill.
It requires proactive thinking, identifying the academicexperience you want for your child, and putting measures in place to keep that journey on track if circumstances change.
This was the focus of our recently concluded webinar, ‘Your Child’s Education Shouldn’t Be Left to Chance: How to Plan Ahead.’
The webinar opened with a welcome address from Muibat Jimoh, Executive Director, Coronation Life Assurance Limited, who emphasised that education planning requires realistic goals and financial preparedness to help families navigate unexpected circumstances.
The keynote speaker, Lekan Adigun, Education Strategist and Teacher Trainer, challenged parents to consider an important question: If something happened to your income tomorrow, would your child’s education continue without changing schools, interrupting a term or lowering the ambition?
He explained that effective education planning should start with the child, not the invoice. Parents should consider their child’s learning profile, interests, strengths and the future they envision before choosing an educational pathway.
He also highlighted the importance of considering the desired destination, curriculum, and available options, particularly where a child may eventually pursue education in another country.
The conversation then moved to the financial realities of achieving these goals, with Folake Jejelaye, Team Lead, Retail Sales (Southwest), Coronation Life Assurance Limited, and Chibudike Anyagou, Team Lead, Retail Life Underwriting, Coronation Life Assurance Limited, sharing practical perspectives on funding and protecting a child’s educational future.
They discussed how financial planning and insurance can work together to help families prepare for long-term goals.
The Education Legacy Plan was highlighted as a solution designed to help parents plan for their children’s education while providing financial protection against unforeseen circumstances.
A key message throughout the webinar was the importance of starting early.
Planning ahead gives parents the opportunity to understand their child and their goals, identify the best path, estimate future costs and put appropriate financial measures in place rather than making critical decisions when time is limited.
